Mission Statement
The organization's mission is to work together with home owners, boat owners, local businesses, local, state
and federal agencies and others to foster long term partnerships to preserve, protect and enhance the overall
quality of life of all living things in and around Lake Martin – The Crown Jewel of the South, including, but
not limited to, water levels and quality, shoreline preservation, fishing, wildlife, recreational activities
and the safety of all boaters.
Organizational Goals
- Commitment to work with APCO and FERC concerning seasonal reservoir draw down levels.
- Active participant on APCO re-licensing subcommittees.
- Advocate laws and regulations for the care and protection of Lake Martin, its shorelines and adjacent areas.
- Actively contribute to the resolution of interstate water disputes affecting Lake Martin.
- Support citizen monitoring of water quality on Lake Martin.
- Advance the cleanliness of Lake Martin and surrounding areas.
- Promote and support safe and secure recreational use and activities upon Lake Martin.
- Keep home owners, boat owners, businesses, governmental agencies and users of Lake Martin and the general public abreast of environmental and other issues affecting Lake Martin and surrounding areas.
- Support the economic and recreational interest of Lake Martin and surrounding areas.
- Provide HOBO members with newsletters and opportunities to participate in forums, seminars, and other activities concerning Lake Martin.
